“I did not find this world desolate when I entered it.
My parents planted for me before I was born,
So I plant for those who will come after me.”

Why support a WRJ Program of Planned Giving?
- Planned giving enables Women of Reform Judaism to continue creating a vital, influential, and caring Reform Jewish community for years to come.
- WRJ will have the capacity and resources to initiate new programs to strengthen sisterhood and congregational life.
- Planned gifts provide a financial cushion that will ensure WRJ’s ability to support our future clergy – rabbinic and cantorial students at Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion.
What do I get from Planned Giving?
- Through planned giving you change not only your life, but the lives of Reform Jews in your community and around the world. In addition to ensuring that WRJ has the resources to continue to meet our future goals and objectives, you will be leaving a legacy and setting an example for your children and your community. Planned giving provides you with a variety of options that will enable you to be a partner in securing the future of Women of Reform Judaism and in ensuring that the goals and mission of WRJ will continue for generations to come.
Planned Giving opportunities include:
- Endowment Funds: A named endowment may be established with a gift of $10,000 or more, with proceeds to be used either as directed by the donor or for general use by Women of Reform Judaism.
- Bequests: A gift in your will is one of the easiest and most effective ways to perpetuate your commitment to the goals and ideals of WRJ. You can leave a specific sum of money, a percentage of your estate, or a percentage of the remainder of your estate after you have provided for family and friends. A bequest may also be used to establish a new named endowment or contribute to an existing endowment. A bequest can be created with this simple statement in your will: “I give, devise, and bequeath the sum of $______ (or specific property or % of my estate) to Women of Reform Judaism, 633 Third Avenue, New York, NY 10017, for general purposes.”
- Life Insurance Policies: Often existing life insurance policies are no longer needed to protect family members who have been provided for in other ways. A donor may choose to direct such a policy to WRJ. Or a donor may choose to obtain a life insurance policy as the direct means of funding a gift, permitting a substantial gift for a relatively modest periodic outlay. Simply designate Women of Reform Judaism as the beneficiary and send a copy of the confirmation from the insurance company to: WRJ, 633 Third Avenue, New York, NY 10017.
- Gifts of Real Estate: Real estate that is no longer needed or used by the donor’s family can be a meaningful gift to WRJ. The gift can even be made while allowing the donor to remain in residence for life. In addition, capital gains may be avoided, and there may be favorable treatment for federal income tax purposes*.
- Gifts of Securities: Substantial tax advantages* are often available to the donor who gives securities, especially those that have appreciated in value over a long term. In addition to receiving a charitable deduction for the full, fair market value of such a gift, the donor avoids any potential tax on the capital gain of the gifted property.
