WRJ urged the Senate to pass legislation to increase the minimum wage, without amendments that would provide tax cuts for business or jeopardize worker protections, and urged President Bush to sign the minimum wage legislation. A few weeks following adoption of this statement, the minimum wage bill, which had already been passed by the House of Representatives, was adopted by the Senate and signed by the President.
